When love struck Pt 2

On my way home I couldn’t get over Kelvin. The atmosphere he brought to church and how our conversation went. It felt like I had met my soul mate. Well, maybe.

My thoughts were interrupted by the bolt driver “Madam we don reach”. “Okay” I paid him a sum of one thousand naira, got down and bade him farewell. By this time I was still smiling and I couldn’t wait to tell Victoria, my roommate about my new found soulmate.

Vicky, was the only one I had aside from my family. We go way back. Right from secondary school. Everyone is always in awe of how close we have been since then. Despite going to different universities we still kept in touch with each other. I can evidently say she is my covenant friend.

Vicky, seeing the excitement on my face she couldn’t wait for me to change my outfit. Gist was like food to us. Be it spiritual, academic, or emotional we were always eager to share. Me being an introvert, she was the extra one who always had the vibe and energy. So I had no choice but to get some from her.

Vicky and I talked for hours till it was past 3 pm. We had spoken for 2 hours without knowing. And we needed to eat lunch. “Omo, e don do, let’s go and prepare lunch,” I said. Vicky staring at me. “I know that look. You cooked?” I asked “Me ke, a bi moti cook ni” “I brought it from home o. Mum insisted. She said I should feed you since you’ve been the chef here and I practically do nothing but eat” Vicky said. We both chuckled “Na you na, chief of soft life” I said raising my hands in the air.

After lunch, I rested a bit on the couch before we went out for the evening Bible study. I always anticipated Bible study because we could relate with everyone. It was more of a therapy session for me since I have found it a little hard living as a normal Christian. I was always thankful for the gathering of the “Chant and Chat” bond.

At Bible study, we talked about anxiety and other relatable talks. It was time for us to give contributions and share what God has been teaching us individually in the past week. A lot of us spoke, I spoke too and just when we were about to conclude the session. Someone called the attention of the moderator to speak. I noticed this same brother had his head bowed the whole time and I cared less. It was when he began to speak I had to raise my head because the voice sounded familiar. Lo and behold it wasn’t someone I expected. What was He doing here?
